Q-Sys Autonomous Camera Tracking & Vision Matrix Control

During 2023 we coded, commissioned and deployed bespoke Camera Tracking in 8 of the Committee Rooms at the Federal Parliament.

Here is a video demonstrating the solution during commissioning of the first deployment.

While the Cisco Quad-Cam provides camera tracking natively, these rooms utilised two Quad-Cam's so we could not use the native camera tracking.

Our solution was to implement this within the Q-Sys Ecosystem with LUA coding to:

• Perform audio detection

• Direct the appropriate camera angle and zoom

• Switch the appropriate camera vision to the Video Conference far-end

This solution provides tuneable parameters to:

• Fine tune the audio detection

• Timing to switch to a new camera shot when someone else talks

• Timing to switch to a wide angle shot when talking stops

• Lock the camera position while positioned on a talker thus blocking others from interjecting and stealing the shot
